HOUSE RULES


1. Zero Tolerance for drug or alcohol possession or use.  We will assist you in finding alternate accommodations if there is a recurrence.


2. Zero Tolerance for stealing. (Taking food from others without permission is considered stealing. We encourage community cooking, meal planning and sharing dinner time together. This is to assist in developing a family like structure).


3. Zero tolerance for destruction of Turtleback or other resident’s property.


4. Zero tolerance for physical confrontation or verbal confrontation with any staff member, volunteer or resident.


5. Medications must be pre-approved by staff, and refills must be turned in immediately.  All medications must be taken as prescribed.


6. As a member of a recovering community and helping to create a safe environment, we request any resident who knows that another resident has violated any rules of Turtleback report the behavior to the staff.


7. Any visitor to Turtleback property will be asked to leave immediately if Turtleback staff or residents suspect any use of illegal or illicit drugs, including alcohol. Residents who have been asked to leave due to their own breach of rules will not be permitted back to the property.


8. All residents must attend five, 12-step meetings per week.  Zoom meetings may only serve as additional meetings.  Meeting verification sheets are due at the weekly house meeting.


9. Residents must obtain and meet weekly with a temporary or permanent sponsor within 2 weeks while residing at Turtleback.

10. Residents must attend the mandatory weekly House Meeting and all house recovery-focused groups and activities. (Exceptions made for work or school related conflicts with staff approval).

11. Residents must be willing to submit to a drug/alcohol urine screen upon the request of the staff.

​

12. Residents must be willing to submit to random searches of personal property and bedroom.

​

13. Weapons of any kind are not permitted on Turtleback property.

​

14. We request that a resident commit to a 90 day stay.

​

15. Residents must be registered and attending IOP (optional) upon admission to Turtleback.

​

16. Resident’s rooms must be clean at all times (Resident’s beds are to be made when the residents are not in bed).

​

17. Staff reserves the right to intervene if isolating in bedrooms becomes an issue.

​

18. Curfew is 10pm for the first 30 days with no exceptions. (Curfew may be extended after 30 days provided the resident is employed and in good standing with Turtleback).

​

19. Residents must sleep at the house each night.

​

20. Overnight passes are given after 30 days living at Turtleback.

​

21. Residents are permitted to have one (1) overnight at another location per week.  Special requests will be considered on a case by case basis. All visitors to the property must be approved by staff and must be off the property by 10pm.

​

22. There is absolutely no loitering in the front of the property.

​

23. Residents must only smoke (including e-cigarettes) in the designated outdoor smoking area.

​

24. Residents must be employed or enrolled in school or have a volunteer position within the first two weeks of living at Turtleback for 15 plus hours a week. Residents having unusual job requirements must have staff approval.

25. Residents will participate in ongoing mandatory house chores.

​

26. Residents must agree to abide by Federal and South Carolina laws while out in the community. Any violation of the laws can result in the dismissal from the Turtleback program.
